In Southern Chile, the  Evergreen Template Forest, is the dominant biogeographical zone, which is interrupted by the human settlements and specially by deforested areas, old forest that was felled to create agricultural grounds.

Within the zone, there are many wetlands and other areas of importance for ornithology, concentrating many endemic birds shared between Chile and Argentina. Our country has the advantage of a better access to this area.
