Gonzalo Gonzalez C. / Partner & Senior Guide

Gonzalo is an Agricultural Engineer, specialized in Agrarian Economy and concluded his studies at the Universidad Católica de Chile. His love for nature has its origin in his childhood, and he has been observing birds for more than 30 years. After working as an Agrarian Economist for 17 years, he has opted to turn his passion - birds and nature - into a profession. He has concentrated his Chilean expeditions to the Andean high plateau and the central area of the country. His trips abroad include visits to almost all of Argentina and the South Georgia Islands. He has also been photographing birds for 25 years, and has files of images including almost all the Chilean birds, and has published pictures in journals and books. He and his friend, Daniel Martinez, are both authors of "Las Aves de Chile. Nueva Guía de Campo" ("Birds of Chile. A new Field Guide". Only in Spanish) published in 2004.


Juan Carlos Torres M. / Partner & Senior Guide

Juan Carlos is a biologist with expertise in birds and mammals. He studied at the Universidad de Chile, earning degrees in biology. Since 1987 he has worked as the Curator of Birds at the National Museum of Natural History in Santiago. He has developed several research projects, and has published more than 90 papers in national and international journals, including popular articles. He is a member of several scientific societies and serves on the Editorial Board of Chilean journals. He is also a member of governmental commissions that deal with biodiversity and conservation issues. His natural history interests are very broad, and he has travelled extensively through Chile from the northern Andean high plateau to the austral Cape Horn, and to the islands of the Chilean Island territories. He also has experience working in other environments, such as the deserts of Argentina and California, tropical forests of Mexico, Brazil, and Peru, and forests of Europe.


Jorge A. Tomasevic / Guide

Since he was very young he developed his passion for exploration and wild lands. He was born in Punta Arenas, but he comes to Santiago at his very early years, so he has roamed before starting to talk. In fact, he used to stay long vacations on southern forests, northern deserts, the Andean mountains or the Pacific beaches, always enjoying wild lands. His passion for forests lead him to study Forest Engineering in the University of Chile were he found his other passion: wild birds. Since 1999 he has been part of the Wildlife Ecology Lab of the University of Chile were he has developed his career in bird ecology, which includes research and conservation projects with stunning endangered species such as the Chilean Woodstar or the Masafuera Rayadito.


Daniel González Acuña / Guide

Daniel is a veterinarian, specialised in the diseases of wild birds, with a special focus on parasites. He studied at the Universidad de Concepción and obtained the degree of Ph.D in Veterinary Medicine in Hannover, Germany. At present, Daniel combines his field experience in birding with his post as Professor of General Zoology and Ornithology in the Universidad de Concepción, Chile. He has developed different research projects on diseases in wild birds and has published about 60 papers in national and international specialized journals. He is also an expert mountaineer who was member of the Chilean National Team, and he has gone on numerous climbing and biding expeditions and trips in Chile and different countries of South America, Europe and Asia.
